The head astronomer at my local observatory (Fernbank), says he routinely gets calls from people who ask if certain things will happen because the stars are in certain alignments.
I shouldn't be surprised by this, but I am surprised by this.
I am further surprised that he can patiently say to folks that astronomy is not astrology.

wait until Uranus is penetrated by what's just under Orion's Belt, then you'll understand... ;P
